Back in 2002 on an adventure in the distant colony of Australia, Elliot lost his sunglasses. Neither particularly expensive nor of any sentimental value, Elliot still wants them back.

When probed over why he deems such a pointlessly expensive trip more worthwhile than simply buying some new sunglasses, Elliot plays the honest angle: “Because this way I get to go back to Australia, which is slightly more interesting than Boots.”

Fair enough, but does he realise just how astronomical his chances of actually finding them are? “Well, my chances are immediately doubled because I lost two pairs out there.” Elliot knows no one can argue with science.

And what ingenious searching methods will he employ? “I’ll use a stick to prod at things I’m unsure about and I’ll use my eyes to see – I’m good at looking.” A new pub science invention created specifically for the Australia search ‘has not been ruled out’ at this stage.
